If you need to provide a photo as part of your residency, fellowship, or medical school application, we’re here to make it simple and stress-free. Program directors often remember faces before names, and first impressions matter more than most applicants realize. A professional ERAS photo not only meets AAMC technical requirements but also helps convey confidence, warmth, and professionalism, qualities that make a lasting impression during interviews and ranking decisions.

Our experienced photographers will walk you through every step, from fine-tuning posture and expression to selecting your final image. We’ll take care of the MyERAS formatting so you can upload your photo immediately. You’ll receive all images in high resolution, along with your ready-to-upload ERAS photo. What to Wear & When to Shoot

A navy or charcoal suit jacket over a light shirt is the safest choice for both men and women, and a conservative tie completes the look for men. Skip the white coat for your primary ERAS photo — program directors expect a clean professional portrait, not a clinical one. Solid colors photograph better than patterns, and a plain light background keeps the focus on your face, which is exactly what reads best at thumbnail size in a program director’s queue.

Most applicants shoot between late spring and early fall, before the ERAS season opens and interview invitations go out. Your photo should be recent — ideally taken within the past year — so you look the same on interview day as you do in your application. A relaxed, natural smile signals warmth and approachability; we’ll coach you through expression and posture so it feels effortless rather than posed.

ERAS Photo FAQ
When should I take my ERAS photo?

Most applicants shoot between late spring and early fall, before the ERAS application season opens. Your photo should be recent — ideally within the past year — so program directors see the same person on interview day.

What are the ERAS photo requirements?

2.5 × 3.5 inches at 150 dpi, 150 KB or smaller, in color, with your full face and shoulders centered against a plain light background. We format your final image to these specs before you leave, so it uploads to MyERAS without issues.

What should I wear for an ERAS photo?

A navy or charcoal suit jacket with a light shirt is the safest choice; a conservative tie is recommended for men. Solid colors photograph better than patterns. See our ERAS photo guide for full wardrobe advice.

Should I wear my white coat?

No — skip the white coat for your primary ERAS photo. Programs expect a clean, professional business portrait. If you’d like white-coat shots for a department page or LinkedIn, the Plus session has time for both.

Should I smile in my ERAS photo?

Yes, a natural, relaxed smile reads as warm and approachable — qualities programs value. With or without teeth is fine; we coach your expression during the session so it looks natural, never forced.

How fast will I get my photos?

Same day. You leave with all your high-resolution images plus your MyERAS-formatted file, ready to upload.

Can I use the photos for fellowship applications or LinkedIn too?

Yes. The same session works for fellowship (PGY-1, PGY-2, PGY-3), medical school applications, and residency interviews. The Plus session adds extra looks suitable for LinkedIn profiles and hospital directory pages.

Where is your studio?

Times Square, at 260 W 44th Street, 5th Floor — in the heart of Manhattan, minutes from most NYC medical campuses by subway. Sessions run daily, 9 AM–9 PM.
