How to Prepare for Graduation Photos

Your cap, gown and a few small details make these photos. A little planning keeps the regalia looking sharp and the day relaxed.

Your Regalia

Bring your cap, gown, tassel and any honor cords or stoles. Gowns ship folded, so steam or hang yours the night before to drop the creases. Know which side your tassel belongs on. The cap sits flat and level, about an inch above your eyebrows.

What to Wear Underneath

The collar and a few inches of your outfit show, so they matter. A simple top or dress with a clean neckline works well; a collared shirt and tie reads sharp for a classic look, with a jacket optional. Stick to solid colors. If we shoot full length, bring comfortable shoes you’re happy to show.

Hair, Makeup & Details

Style your hair so the cap still sits right — test it on before you settle the look. Keep makeup natural and bring touch-ups. Decide whether you’re wearing glasses, and bring a wipe cloth so they’re clean and glare-free.
